Aromatic profile
Just imagine the first time you peeled open a fresh blood orange. At this moment, you would never expect to find such a gorgeous and exotic red fruit inside. The fresh citrus scent brings both a sense of calm and excitement. Like the fruit, blood orange essential oil sparkles with a sweet, fresh, vibrant, fruity-aldehydic aroma characteristic of orange with a light, mouthwatering tartness that is richer in aroma than Sweet Orange.
Oil History
Oranges originated in what is now Malaysia and, over time, made their way from Asia to the Middle East, Africa, ancient Greece and Rome. In ancient Greece oranges were prized as food from the gods and were called golden apples. Originating in Sicily, it’s believed that blood oranges were a mutation, possibly of the tangelo and pomelo. Within Europe, the arancia rossa di Sicilia, or the red orange of Sicily, has Protected Geographical Status.
